Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long does it take to produce a 45-minute corporate or industrial training video?
On average it takes most productions companies a month. eMotion’s onsite “Work Cell” methodology means we can deliver a finished corporate or industrial training video in 8 days.
2. How long does it take to complete a 5-minute commercial on DVD for trade shows?
On average, it takes most production companies three weeks to complete a high quality 5-minute commercial on DVD for a trade show. By utilizing eMotion’s onsite editing capabilities, we can finish an exceptional 5-minute commercial on DVD for trade shows in 5 to 6 days.
3. Why does it cost so much to do revisions to a video after it has been completed?
Most video companies use a Beta SP tape as a master for back-ups. This is like taking all of the layers of video, voice-overs, music, graphics and animations and crazy gluing them all together onto one tape. It’s impossible to separate them so essentially the project has to be re-edited from scratch. eMotion has a system that allows you to upgrade or update your video that’s very cost effective. We charge a 1-day flat fee to do future updates or upgrades to your video. We are able to offer this service because we keep a live hard drive back up of your entire project. Your project is on the editing timeline so we can easily change audio, take people out and replace them with new actors or employees, change graphics and more. Your project will never be outdated.
4. What camera should a good production company use?
Good question! The production industry is going through some serious changes regarding cameras. The old standard was either Beta SP or Digital Beta. Now we have different kinds of HD cameras and professional DV and DVC Pro cameras. If you want an ad that will air on an HD network, you have to shoot on an HD camera or a DVC Pro HD camera. Most of television is still NTSC, which means there are a wide variety of cameras that qualify. The best thing to do is look at the companies’ footage and compares it to what you see on TV. You will notice if a low quality camera is being used.
5. How much should the production of a TV commercial cost?
This is hard to quantify because there are huge difference the quality of commercials. The best thing to do is get three quotes from reputable production companies. eMotion provides flat rate quotes and we can also quote a daily rate. Many companies like using a daily rate with eMotion because we edit at you facility so you see the skills of the editor and you experience first hand how hard he/she works.
6. Why would I host a crew onsite versus off site post-production?
Studio production allows the crew to film on site then produce the edit and add special effects at a studio. The problem with that is the length of time between approvals and lack of input from the client. By bringing a mobile edit studio to the shooting site such as a manufacturing facility, the client can track and add input to the production during the post production stage.
7. Can my DVD be produced in multiple languages?
Absolutely! With the help of a translator and our authoring software we can create a customized DVD that includes up to four languages.
8. Why would I use your editing services?
Emotion provides broadcast-quality digital non-linear services. Our editors can take your project and give it a professional, customized edge through the use of digital video effects, audio processing, DVD authoring and more. This is just one part of the production project. We walk the client through every step of the way from pre-production planning and design to the choice of output and delivery.
